Ikat Scarf 4
The journey of these scarves begin early summer when Himalayan farmers climb into the mountains to collect the soft fleecy wool of the Lena Rama ,a wild goat that lives mostly in the Chang Thang area of Ladakh. The process has been passed on for generations creating the most luxurious classic wool scarf.
Ikat is a old textile design, historically crafted in various parts of Asia and some parts of Africa. I have a long running romance with ikat and was introduced to it as a young child growing up around a home textile business my family has run for over 150 years in the Coastal town of Kochi, India. My affair continues.
